Blaze Farm

Set on the edge of the Peak District, the farm is famous for its Hilly Billy Ice Cream – sample the many flavours all made on the farm using the milk the farm’s own dairy herd. Watch the lambing in the Springtime and the sheep-shearing in the Summer. Watch the cows being milked in the parlour, see the baby calves and feed the hens. There’s a variety of nature trails where visitors can spot the wildlife and take in breathtaking views through meadows and woodlands. There’s also a Tea Room serving a range of home-made lunches, cakes, scones and drinks.

Cost: Admission is FREE as the farm relies on income from the ice cream parlour and tea room. There’s a no picnic policy. The Farm doesn’t accept credit/debit cards as payment methods – cash or cheque only.

Opening Times: Tuesdays – Saturdays and Bank Holiday Mondays 10am to 5.30pm all year round. Closed on Mondays (except Bank Holidays), Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Year’s Day.

Lancaster Park and Animal Farm

A family run children’s petting farm. Visitors are invited to meet, touch and feed the animals.  There’s a range of animals from horses and sheep to rabbits, chickens and many more.  Play areas with swings, slides and mini ziplines are dotted along a scenic nature walk, there’s rides for the children and you can take your own picnic.

Nixon’s Farm

A lovely, recently renovated and family friendly tea room where you can enjoy your meal whilst watching your little ones in the indoor play area! £2.00 charge for each child playing in the play areas (Indoor or Outdoor).

Reddish Vale Farm and Riding School

Reddish Vale Farm is a family run business and was established in 1997. The farm was set up to give children an insight into the countryside environment. There is a variety of animals including horses, cows, sheep, goats, pigs, a milking cow, a llama, alpacas, donkeys, rabbits, guinea pigs, ducks and chickens. We have adult and baby animals living on the farm, depending on the time of year.

Friendly staff are always on hand to offer assistance and provide information whenever you may need it.

There are also tearooms and a gift shop.

Seven Sisters Ice Cream Farm & Tea Rooms

Bring the kids for ice cream and to see the baby cows. The posh ice cream is made on the farm using the farm’s own cows milk. There’s at least 16 different flavours for you to try plus fat free, dairy free and gluten free options. As well as the finest quality ice cream, Seven Sisters serves coffee, freshly made waffles, home-made quiche & home-made soup with chunky bread and Cheshire cheese for lunch ! Dog-friendly, no picnic policy.

Cost: Entry is FREE, the farm just asks you buy something whilst you are there.

Smithills Farm

Smithills Open Farm, Smithills Dean Road, Bolton, Greater Manchester, BL1 7NS

Set within 70 acres of rolling countryside a few miles north of Bolton, Smithills Open Farm is a family run business providing homes for 25 types of animals from cows, pigs, goats, sheep, rabbits, llamas, owls, eagles, donkeys, ducks and deer. You can get up close to the animals, and feed and hold them. There’s also bouncy castles, an adventure playground, an inflatable assault course, a sandpit, donkey rides, a tractor tour, a souvenir shop, and a café.

Cost: Adults: £7.00; Children: £6.00 (2 – 16 years, children under 2 are free); OAPs: £6.00. Group bookings are £8.00 per child. Accompanying adults are free at a ratio of 1 adult to every 5 children. Any adults above this ratio are charged at £7.00 each. This price includes a donkey ride for each child as well as a tractor and trailer ride. GROUPS MUST BE BOOKED IN ADVANCE.

Stockley Farm

Your day will start with a tractor ride from the carpark to the farm. Attractions include Animal Sheds (including cows, calves, pigs, and goats) and Pet’s Corner where children have the opportunity to hold a baby rabbit, guinea pig or a chick or duckling. Visitors can feed the baby lambs and goats and join in the fun at sheep racing during holiday times. There’s Birds of Prey displays on certain days, plus indoor and outdoor play areas! You can walk through the woodland nature trail. The Willow Barn Tea Room serving home-made food and drinks plus there’s a gift shop.

The Cheshire Ice Cream Farm

The Ice Cream Parlour houses over 50 delicious and award-winning flavours of ice-cream and sorbets. Attractions include:

Wythenshawe Park Farm

Wythenshawe Community Farm is one of the popular facilities at Wythenshawe Park and offers children a chance to learn about where food comes from, and all the elements of a working countryside farm in an urban setting. There’s cows, sheep, goats, pigs, ducks and horses and baby animals are often on site. There’s a shop selling locally produced food including meat, seasonal vegetables and eggs. As well as visiting, youngsters can become a Junior Famer for the day – call the farm office for more details.

Cost: FREE!

Opening Times: Seven days a week 11.30am to 4pm (April to October) and 11.30am to 3.30pm (November to March). Please note, occasionally the farm may close for training or maintenance.
