Positive Birth Movement
Saturday 29th February 2020 10am, St Thomas the Apostle Church, Heaton Chapel. Sk4 4QG
We are a global network of free-to-attend antenatal groups, linked up by social media. We connect pregnant women together to share stories, expertise and positivity about childbirth. We aim to challenge the epidemic of negativity and fear that surrounds modern birth, and help change birth for the better. We want you to join us as we meet up, link up and shake up birth!
Making a Bronze Age Arrowhead
Saturday 29th February 2020 1pm – 5pm
Staircase House, 30/31 Marketplace SK1 1ES
Archaeologist, Dr John Piprani will lead people through the process of making a barb and tang Bronze Age arrowhead. The Bronze Age is when metals started to be used in Britain, however, tools such as arrowheads were still made from flint. You will use the three key tools used in the Bronze Age for this process: hard stone hammer; soft antler hammer; and a copper pressure flaker. At the end of the session everyone will have something approaching their own barb and tang arrowhead. We can then reflect upon the process and what it can tell us about people in the past. These events have been facilitated by the University of Manchester ‘Creative Manchester’ initiative. We aim to film part of this event.
Tickets from Eventbrite.
